12 Grapes to resume the current year and to welcome New Year 2019

In Spain there is a New Year tradition to eat the 12 Grapes of Luck with each bell strike at midnight of December 31. It is time to make your wishes and summarize the year that has passed.

For PET Technologies team it is also time to outline the most important events of the current year and plan the coming one. Let’s recall the key facts together!

12. At the beginning of 2018, PET Technologies explained how we created a PET bottle. We released a detailed video, which reflects each stage: from sketch development to prototyping and laboratory tests. We can watch it now!

11. PET for PETs. It is a summary of the unique project we developed together with Moderna Product nv, the United States. Our task was to develop a 0,5 and 1,0 l wide neck jar for a gravity fed water. Now they are produced at PET Technologies universal blow molder UPF-30b.

10.The first APF-Max blow molder with output 14 000 bph to produce up to 2 l bottles was launched in operation. It is the 4th generation of SMB machines developed by PET Technologies. There are certain features worth to highlight: easy neck change from 18 to 48 mm, NIR heating system, totally electric configuration.

9. PET Technologies released a new product to the market: a machine to pack empty PET bottles in plastic bags BPM-3000 (3000 bph, 0.2 – 2.0 l). This equipment is an excellent complement to PET bottles production line, including APF-3002 blow molder.

8. Traditionally, we have participated at Milk & Dairy 2018, EXPO PACK Mexico 2018, Agroprodmash 2018, Gulfood Manufacturing 2018. We brought our latest developments. In EXPO PACK Mexico and Agroprodmash we exhibited APF-6004 and APF-Max 8 respectively. Both machines already had their final destination: a bottle making plant in Mexico and a dairy plant in Russia.

7. This May PET Technologies had a debut at NPE2018 in Orlando, the United States. The guests of our booth had an opportunity to see and touch APF-3002 blow molding machine.

6. It was in 2018 when the first PET Technologies automatic blow molder was start-up in the Unites States. The customer acquired PET stretch blow molding machine APF-3002 with output 3000 bph to produce 0.2 – 2.0 L. Now the equipment is in full operation in Arizona.

5. This summer PET Technologies geography extended to Brazil. Our customer BluePET launched automatic blow molder APF-30 to produce 20 – 30 l PET kegs from Petainer preform. Why did he choose this machine? Because of the optimal cost-benefit relation, according to BLUE PET.

4. PET Technologies is getting closer to brewing industry in Mexico. For the first time ever we took part at Cerveza Mexico 2018. We brought our solutions for beer manufactures: a complete line to prepare PET kegs for filling.

3. Traditional BrauBeviale 2018 has turned into first public appearance for a complex to prepare PET kegs for filling. We exhibited a sealing and pressurizing unit. Now PET Technologies supplies a complete line from PET SBM machine to keg leak-testing module

2. This autumn PET Technologies has celebrated the 4th International Conference on modern PET industry trends and innovations. Over 50 professionals from 12 countries of the world arrived to the manufacturing facilities in Chernihiv (Ukraine).The key messages the available on our website.

4th International Conference of PET Technologies: where innovations and reliability meet

This autumn PET Technologies celebrated the 4th International Conference on Modern PET industry Trends and Innovations.

Over 50 professionals from 12 countries of Europe, Asia, North and Latin America, Near East participated in the event. There were manufactures of preform and beverages, packaging equipment and filling lines as well as journalists of industry mass media.

PET Technologies General Director inaugurated the Conference. He shared historical facts about the city, where the plant is located, as well as several facts about PET Technologies: over 9 000 of m2 of manufacturing facilities, 1 000 installations and 10 000 blow molds. He pointed out that sales geography covers 45 countries of the world. There are 15 service centers in Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America.

Optimal PET bottle creation was among the key issues of the 4th International Conference. Retal and PET Technologies companies shared their experience: the first one as preform manufacture, the latter as SBM machinery developer.

Aliona Muravchenko, Retal company, pointed out that 500 – 1000 ml PET bottle is still a leader terms of sales volume. Attention towards healthy way of life, premium quality and multiple functionalities and custom design determine bottle design. Thus, in the nearest future this trend will change in favor of 300 ml bottle.

Head of Blow Molds Department of PET Technologies Sergii Zaleskyy continued the topic of modern trends in PET bottles design development. He highlighted prototyping and laboratory tests as part and parcel to develop a PET bottle with predetermined mechanical characteristics. A customer gets samples of PET bottles before placing the order for blow molds kit production!

Excursion to PET Technologies facilities

 

Complete filling lines manufactures, Thermo-Pack and Index-6, made speeches about the latest developments for beverage industry and for oil, dairy products producers respectively. Index-6 representative shared the advantages of filling by weight comparing to the screw technology. Thermo-Pack Head of Sales talked about the options to install complete filling lines for water and CSD. Both companies boast life-long friendship with PET Technologies and multiple joint projects.

Reliability as a unique feature of PET Technologies. This is the topic of the speech made by PET Technologies Marketing and Business Development Director Maxim Poliansky. Our key priorities in cooperation with customers is to deliver equipment on time, guarantee its stable operation, and be financially responsible to the customer in case we fail to deliver goods on time.

 

The speech made by Roland Steurer, PET Technologies GmbH Executive Director, together with Maxim Poliansky turned out to be the culminating point of the event. They presented the 4th generation of PET stretch blow molders APF-Max with output 7 000 – 14 000 bph up to 3 l. Then all the guests strengthened their knowledge in practice: they had excursion to PET Technologies plant. It was a unique opportunity to see the machine in operation.

Successful collaboration with Bon Boisson

At the end of June, we produced 2 blow molds for Bon Boisson Company, PET Technologies long-term customer. The spring is located in the curative place Salty Liman. It received this name back in the middle of the 20th century due to the therapeutic muds of the lake Salty Liman and several types of ground waters. The plant started its production in 1961. Today a modern plant with advanced technologies and equipment preserves its history and traditionally high quality.

We produced blow molds for homonymous Bon Boisson TM mineral water. The plant produces carbonated and non-carbonated mineral water as well as soft drinks based on mineral water.

PET Technologies R&D created the design taking into consideration customer’s view. The fruit of intense work was great ideas. Finally, we managed to implement all customer´s requests in terms of form and design quickly.

Worth to highlight that it is not the last joint project for PET Technologies and Bon Boisson. Now we work on preform weight reduction to produce large containers.

PET Technologies R&D department work consists of several phases and close cooperation with the customer. Its fruits are mutually beneficial.

APF-3002 in the USA

The first PET Technologies automatic blowing machine was put into operation in the USA at the end of June.

The new ground breakerwas the automatic blowing machine APF-3002 with 3000 bph output and a bottle volume up to 3 liters, which was sold with 3 blow molds to a client from Arizona.

Cooperation with the company began at  PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2017 in September last year. Key feature of the project is a unique PET bottle design developed by the client and executed by PET Technologies R&D Department. Engineers have designed a blow mold with a number of special inserts that provide design flexibility of the blown bottle – manufacturer can easily change the design of the bottle simply by replacing the insert elements.

APF-3002 and blow molds fulfilled all the customer’s wishes, therefore the cooperation of the two companies will continue in the future.

1+1=12 000

1 + 1 = 12 000 is simple arithmetic to solve complex tasks.

Meanwhile the producers of beverages in PET bottles have several tasks:

  • How to get a filling line for product in PET bottle with the production capacity of 12 000 bottles per hour?
  • How to save at the same time on investment purchasing a blow molding equipment and running the machines?
  • How to implement the project in technically simple, accessible and understandable way?

The capacity of 12 000 bottles per hour is achievable only in case of installment of complicated and expensive rotary blow molding machines, made in Europe or China. The modern practice is that cutting-edge companies offer an interesting solution: combine two linear blow molding machines with the capacity 6000 bottles per hour each. Here they are the necessary 12000 bottles per hour on a single line in your plant! A lot of companies have chosen this solution, and, as the practice has shown, it was the right way.

 The main benefits they managed to get using a similar algorithm are as follows:

  • Easy running and maintenance of equipment;
  • Primary investment saving: two linear blow molding machines are cheaper than one rotor;
  • Equipment maintenance is cheaper;
  • Changeover time reduction;
  • The company doesn´t meet the problem “a blowing unit does not work, what to do?” – One of the two blow molding machines can provide the filing line with PET bottles, though not to full extent;
  • In this case two blow molding machines are combined with the help of air conveyor which serves to move the bottles along the line and storage the packaging between the blow molding and filling nodes;
  • Two molding machines can be placed quite compactly on the territory of the plant blowing 12000 bottles / hour; in other words, 1500 bottles / hour from one cavity (modern European standard);
  • Energy efficiency: during “off-season” one machine can be turned off, and thus the blow station production will meet the needs of packaging market; at this time the second machine can be put to routine maintenance that provides smoothly running during “high” season in the future;
  • It is also possible to transfer one machine into another bottle format / design.

To sum up, we will highlight the main points. Today the production in PET packaging has a ready solution. The successfully implemented projects already operate well basing on it. In these projects the decisions were taken in favor of two linear blow molding machines produced at a high technical and quality level with the use of high-quality components and advanced technology helping  the manufacturers to make efficient investments in their production facilities. The result is smoothly running blow molding equipment and high-quality PET bottle.

Tradition meets technology: unique project for AQUA-PREMIUM LLC

PET Technologies has finished unique project for AQUA-PREMIUM LLC.

TM VODA UA is a combination of style, beauty and health. High quality of TM VODA UA spring water is confirmed by corresponding certificates, stylish bottle with poppy flowers emphasizes the company’s image. TM VODA UA belongs to premium segment, its outstanding design makes the brand recognizable in the market.

Main task of the project was to adapt glass bottle design of TM VODA UA to the properties of PET material in three bottle volumes – 0.5, 1 and 1.5 liters. At first sight it is hard to distinguish PET bottle from its glass prototype – the PET bottle bottom is flat and repeats the shape of the glass one.

Bottle design contains poppy flowers that have rich history in Ukrainian culture – Ukrainians identify them with youth and beauty. Besides poppy flower was traditionally embroidered on Ukrainian national costumes as sign of an unmarried young woman. In folk medicine poppy is known as a protective charm against the evil eye, it’s used to protect not only humans, but also property. Wide range of poppy flower symbolic meanings made the plant popular in Ukrainian culture.

Combination of traditions, modern technologies and innovative standards marked another successful project completion of PET Technologies with AQUA-PREMIUM LLC. Simplicity and uniqueness, European quality and innovations, reliability and service.

From the Ukrainian steppes to the Scandinavian mountains

From the Black and Azov seas to the North and Baltic seas. From PET Technologies plant to Chumak production facilities.
What do the Scandinavian expanses and fertile fields down south of Ukraine have in common?

This is saturated red PET bottle, which looks like a ripe tomato. Its walls are as opaque and smooth as the skin of juicy tomato. The flavor of its content is as delicate as the flesh of a ripe vegetable. Chumak fills ketchup in a 910 ml PET bottle. It was developed in cooperation with PET Technologies.

Prototyping was the first stage of cooperation between the companies. PET Technologies produced a test batch of bottles from a preform weighing 45 g that provided “Chumak”. Then the customer checked it in his production to be convinced that the new capacity corresponds to all the required characteristics.

Thus, Chumak company purchased PET Technologies UPF-5 blow molder to produce PET bottles for ketchup. The product, saturated with the Ukrainian steppe warmth, is exported to the Scandinavian countries.

I am Scandinavian,” Hans Christian Andersen once wrote in his poem. “We are in Scandinavia”, this is how we can describe the joint project of “Chumak” and PET Technologies.

New Series of Flexible High-Speed Blow Molders APF-Max

PET Technologies has brought to the market the 4th generation of PET stretch blow molding machines APF-Max with output range 6 000 – 14 000 bph for bottles volume of 0.2 – 3.0l. The product range consists of basic 3 models: APF-Max 4, APF-Max 6, APF-Max 8 and its modifications. First customers have already revaluated its features.

Innovative design and user-friendly interface. Evenat first site automatic blow molding machine APF-Max is totally different from PET Technologies product range.Streamline form and corporate coloring, electric cabinet backside and communications connected via the top of the machine are only a few features to highlight.

Quick change and flexibility. APF-Max series has 4-,6-,8-cavities configurations that match APF-Max 4, APF-Max 6 and APF-Max 8 models. You can buy 7 000 bph modification and after certain period of operation increase the output up to 14 000 bph! You just need to install extra mold cavities and several ovens on the heater. All the mold cavities areseparated, so you can easily install and remove one. Only 15 minutes are enough to change the blow mold and start to produce another PET bottle format. The customers say that only two hours are needed for APF-Max changeover for another preform neck standard.

All-electric configuration. Automatic blow molding machine APF-Max has 6 servo drives to guarantee stable PET bottle manufacturing and high output. They are embedded in the mold closing unit, preform stretching, heater, preform transfer to the blowing part and bottle outfeed system. Automatic temperature regulation and preblow are also controlled via PLC form B&R.

NIR heating system and low total installed power. APF-Max blow molder is equipped with the special short-wave near infrared heating system (NIR). It is not a common method for PET blow molding machines market, but has its evident benefits. Preform heating is more efficient and in the same time less kilowatts are consumed. The heater itself is significantly shorter. Thus, APF-Max output is higher and its dimensions are more compact.

Universal and easy, efficient and user-friendly. These are only a few attributes to characterize new generation of PET stretch blow molders APF-Max. Could you imagine to change all 108 mandrels in the heater in 15 minutes?! It is reality. The first customers have already benefited from this advantage.

PET for PETS

Sounds a little strange… doesn’t it !

But the reality is, MODERNA Products nv are known around the world for creating smart plastics for happy pets. Their designs and accessories are used by pets everywhere… from bowls and cat toilets to carriers and gravity feeders and waterers.

Their newest design is a gravity fed waterer with a difference… together with the team from PET Technologies, MODERNA have worked hard to create a feeder that utilises a blow-moulded jar.

Through the specially modified, semi-automatic blow molder UPF-30 they can now create jars with a neck diameter of 120mm and a volume of 0,5 or 1 gallon. By combining this new technology with their existing injection molded bases, they have created the perfect gravity-fed watering system. What’s more the PET jars are fully recyclable… so one jar creates another… helping the planet for future pets… and owners alike.

The UPF-30 was installed at the company’s American plant in Gaffney, South Carolina… to run along-side their existing machines there. PET Technologies technicians were on hand to commission the new machine and to give first-hand tuition to the new operators.

The new machine is now fully operational and just goes to show, that by working together, we can help make, even the wildest dreams of our business partners, become a reality.

A second installation at their headquarters in Belgium is already pencilled-in for the future.
